sequential art and tackling backgrounds!

i've been thinking about getting into comics -- since, besides just paintings, scenes are a really nice way for me to exercise my creativity. looking for monthly prompts to do so i can dip my toes into the field... but dont seem to be any? o well...

so far, i've been highly interested in making slice of life comics of my life and of my ocs so i think its a good stepping stone. my art journey has pivoted from wanting to do animation and cute paintings to wanting to do concept art and comic work! here's for good luck....!

i've got a few ideas brewing as im still a fledgeling comic artist but i especially have some help coming up soon from my graphic design course as im taking schooling further for the big 2026! im starting online classes in january, and looking forward to them!

when it comes to art, my goals have changed: i've been more interested in depicting characters in scenic backgrounds full of life elements, and i had thought that the best approach to this would be sound design, music design, and animation! i was willing to study the monster of it all to make my ideas come to life. but for the most part, i've really gotten a soft spot for comic art... manga and american comics have always had my eye but i shied away from the daunting task of backgrounds... however, with the help of reference images and 3d modelling i've come to love painting these scenes!

i'm ready to drink the milk straight from the teat and try comic art now!!

i feel it will teach me a lot more about depth, placement, color depth (and color theory in general), as well as concrete and tangible stories!

my first comic was named ocularis, which i had made around 2016~2017.
